Logo - TACS Classic Collection

I was commissioned to design a logo for a collection of retro-style games released by TACS games. The product would work like a jukebox, or a SNES mini, where you could select from a library of virtual game cartridges and play each one separately. I instantly wanted to design an imaginary console that these virtual cartridges would play on, which was the basis of my logo.

This is the finished vector logo, created in Affinity Designer.

The shape of the console incorporates the 'plus' shape or 'd-pad' design of the TACS games logo.

I sketched out several different design ideas and variations for the client, but we ended up going with the very first idea.

Before starting the digital vector version of the logo, I drew out a neat-ish version on paper. Can't remember why I didn't do this in Clip Studio. I just got carried away with the paper version I guess.

While I was working on the final logo in Affinity Designer, the client build himself a 3D model in Blender, which he then used in the game itself.
