Cover art - Fact Hunt

I was invited to do the cover art for Larry Bundy Jr's Fact Hunt book, published by Unbound. The book already had an art director who had a layout and design in mind, so I had to work towards a specific design. I also had to draw a cartoon version of Larry in a way that matched existing cartoon interpretations of him from his YouTube channel artwork. A very fun and enjoyable project.

Every element of the cover had to be drawn separately, in case the art director wanted to move or remove anything. I must have drawn at least twice the amount that was actually visible.

The back cover of the book was a re-arrangement of the front cover elements, with more blank space for blurb.

The title logo wasn't part of the original brief (the art director would have added it later), but I really wanted it to fit in with the physical environment, so I drew a version which the art director chose to use.

It took quite a bit of effort to get my cartoon version of Larry to match up with the existing versions that already existed.

I had a lot of fun drawing these 'ancient games tech' monuments for the background.

I don't think my 'modern games tech' drawings for the foreground were quite as successful.
